Microsoft Excel Basic Components:-
Before starting any task, you should understand the function of all the instruments that will be used for that task accomplishment.

So, Before starting your journey to be an Excel expert, you should understand the importance and function of the major components, which are as follows-
Row: A row is like a data series that laid out horizontally in a table or spreadsheet. In Excel, Every row has its own number for identity. Rows are labeled using numbers (eg- 1 to 1,048,576).
Note: To highlight a row in Excel, move to a cell in the row you want to highlight and press & hold the Shift Key and press Spacebar.
Column: A column is like a data series that laid out vertically in a table or spreadsheet. In Excel, Every column has its own alphabet for identity. Columns are labeled using alphabets (eg- A to XFD).
Note: To highlight a column in Excel, move to a cell in the column you want to highlight and press & hold the Control Key and press Spacebar.
Cell: A cell is an intersection between  a row and a column on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that starts with cell A1.
Active Cell: A cell that is currently selected. It will be highlighted by a rectangular box and its address will be displayed in Address Bar. Here, H4 is the active cell in the image.
Note: You can make a cell “Active Cell” by clicking on it or by using arrow keys. To edit a cell, you have to either double click on it or use the “F2 Function Key” on the keyboard.
Fill Handle: In Microsft Excel, a Fill Handle feature allows users to fill numeric values, text series, insert ranges, insert serial numbers, dates to a desired number of cells. In an active cell spreadsheet, it is a small black box at the bottom right corner of the active cell.  
Sheet Area: The area where you enter the data.
Title Bar: The Title Bar shows the name of your workbook followed by the Application Microsoft Excel extension.  It lies in the middle & at the top of the window. It shows Excel practice sheet.xlsx in the image.
Address Bar: The Address Bar is a small-sized input bar at the left side of the window and the right side of Formula Bar. It shows the address of the active cell. If you have selected more than one cell at a time, it will show the address of the first cell in the range in the Address Bar.
Formula Bar: The Formula Bar is an input bar that lies below the Excel Ribbons. It shows the content of the active cell. It is also used to create and view the formula.
File Menu: The File Menu is a simple menu like all other applications. The menu is a list of commands or choices offered to the user through Menu Bar. It allows the user to access various options like- Save, Save As, New, Print, Excel Options, Share, etc.
Note: Press Either Alt Key or F10 Function Key to open the File Menu at any time.
Quick Acess Toolbar: A toolbar that is used to quickly access the options which you frequently use like- Save As, New, Undo, etc. You will find this toolbar near File Menu in the top left corner of the window. You can customize this toolbar by adding or removing any of the options to a quick access toolbar.
Ribbon:

Ribbon provides the shortcuts to commands in Excel. A command is an action that is performed by the user. Ribbon contains commands which organized in three components-

§  Tabs: Tabs appear at the top of the Ribbon and contains groups of related commands. Eg- Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, etc.
§  Groups: Groups organize the related commands to them; each group name appears below the group on the Ribbon. Eg- Group of commands related to Font, Group of commands related to Alignment etc.
§  Commands: Commands appear under each group to which they belong. Eg- Bold, Italic, Underline, etc. commands for the Font group.
Status Bar: Status Bar is a thin bar which is located at the bottom of the Excel window. It displays the sheet information like- count, average, minimum, on/off status of individual keys such as Caps Lock, Num lock, etc. You can customize the Excel Status bar by Right-clicking on Status Bar.
View Buttons: View buttons allow the user to change how the document will appear. The group of below 3 buttons located at the bottom right corner of the Excel window:-
§  Normal View: This displays the page in Normal view.
§  Page Layout: This displays pages exactly as they will appear when printed. This shows the document in Full Screen.
§  Page Break Preview: This displays a preview of where the pages will break when printed.
Zoom Controls: Zoom controls allow the user to zoom in the document for a closer look. The Zoom control consists of a slider that you can slide left or right to zoom in or out of the document. You can enlarge or shrink the document by using Zoon In/ Zoom Out buttons.
Help Menu: 
Help Menu to get any Excel related information
Help Menu is used to get the Excel-related help at any time. It helps related to all Excel related queries.
Note: To open Help Menu, press the “F1 Function Key” on the keyboard.

How to Start Microsoft Excel?
